Understanding Your Analytics

Comparing Episodes

Compare up to 5 episodes side-by-side to understand what's working.

The Compare page lets you overlay multiple episodes on the same chart to see how they stack up against each other.

How to compare episodes

  1. Navigate to the Compare page from the sidebar
  2. Select up to 5 episodes using the episode selector — search by title and click checkboxes to select
  3. Selected episodes appear as colored badges (blue, green, orange, purple, red) that you can click to remove
  4. The cumulative download lines for all selected episodes will appear on the same chart, aligned by days since first tracked date

Each episode gets its own color so you can easily tell them apart.

Reading the comparison chart

The chart aligns all selected episodes to "Day 0" (their first tracked date), so you can compare apples to apples regardless of when each episode was published. The lines show cumulative downloads over time.

What to look for

  • Stronger starts — which episodes had the biggest Day 1 spike? These likely had better promotion, stronger titles, or higher-interest topics.
  • Longer tails — which episodes kept getting downloads well past the first week? These may be evergreen topics that continue to attract new listeners.
  • Similar shapes — if most episodes follow the same curve, that's your show's natural download pattern. Episodes that break the pattern are worth investigating.
  • Overall volume — which episodes ended up with the most total downloads? Compare this against your expectations to identify surprises.

Metrics comparison

Below the chart, a comparison table shows 7 key metrics for each selected episode side by side:

  • Total Downloads — all-time download count
  • First 7 Days — downloads in the first 7 tracked days
  • First 14 Days — downloads in the first 14 tracked days
  • First 30 Days — downloads in the first 30 tracked days
  • Peak Day — highest single-day download count
  • Avg Daily — average daily downloads
  • Days Tracked — total number of days with tracking data

The highest value in each row is bolded so you can quickly spot which episode leads in each metric.
