Setting Up Your Podcast

Quick Start

Get started with analytics by connecting your podcast host to our platform using OP3.

Welcome to the Analytics Quick Start! We use OP3 (the Open Podcast Prefix Project) to provide accurate, transparent, and privacy-respecting analytics for your podcast.

To get your stats flowing, you just need to add a tracking prefix to your podcast host. Don't worry, it doesn't change your audio or affect your listeners—it just securely counts the downloads!

Overview

Add your RSS Feed to BuzzyPod

First things first, head over to your BuzzyPod analytics page and add your podcast's RSS feed to the form.

This is super important! We do this to ensure we know exactly which RSS feed to look for. Without it, our system won't know what to track.

Grab Your Tracking Prefix

The analytics prefix you will use is the standard OP3 URL. It does not change per podcast, so you will always use this exact link:

https://op3.dev/e/
Heads up! Make sure you copy the exact prefix above. If it's missing the trailing slash or has a typo, your stats won't track correctly.

Add the Prefix to Your Podcast Host

How you add the prefix depends on where your podcast is hosted. We've broken this down into two common methods. Choose the one that applies to your current host:

Many modern podcast hosts have a built in field or toggle for tracking prefixes right in their settings dashboard.

  1. Log into your podcast host
  2. Navigate to your Show Settings, Advanced Settings, or Analytics Settings section.
  3. Look for a setting called Tracking Prefix, Analytics Prefixes, URL Prefixes, or Analytics URL.
  4. Checkbox vs. Text Field: Some hosts simply have a checkbox for OP3 or Open Podcast Prefix. If so, just check that box! If they have a text field instead, paste your prefix (https://op3.dev/e/) into the box and hit Save.
We have a guide for each major podcast host that you can find here!

Wait for BuzzyPod to Detect Tracking

Once the prefix is added to your host, navigate back to your BuzzyPod dashboard. The app automatically detects when tracking is active via OP3 — no manual confirmation is needed.

From there, we take over! We'll continuously monitor your feed. The second we start receiving stats, we will automatically display them on your page. Please note that depending on your host, this can take anywhere from 24 hours to 48 hours.

You will see a status indicator on your dashboard showing whether your podcast is being tracked.
